brief

site

A team of students were required to design and build a temporary stage for musicians to perform on, during a celebration event for the Architecture Centre's 20th birthday. This was a re-use driven project and the design had to take into account key practical considerations, site context, materiality and assembly.

Key practical considerations - the stage must not make noise, provide some kind of shield from the wind and rain, be safe and carry weight and consider heavy use through dancing, equipment etc.

Site  context - no bigger than 3800mm wide x 2800mm deep x 3800mm high, the crowd will be passers by, therefore consider how it will draw people into watch, and respond to its context.

Materiality - 100 silver blankets provided, and a budget of £100, consider how the stage will look in photographs, and how the bands can be framed by this.

Assembly - to be assembled in pieces that can be stored overnight at the Architecture Centre / built on site on Sunday morning, considering transport from the University to the site.
